A two-month voyage around the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was left behind by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The vessel departed without her and returned later that day after the personnel became aware the woman was missing.

A large-scale rescue mission discovered her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, together with investigators and the official investigator.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that guests and staff on the vessel were told that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "tragic passing and prior technical problems".
